Greek Week (Post 10)
Greek Week is coming up here at Washburn University. This is a week long event where greek life is celebrated with a different event each night. All sororities and fraternities participate in this week long event trying to earn points toward their greek week total.
Some of the events include dodgeball, lip sync, trivia, and greek olympics. Activites involved in greek olympics are egg race, 4x100, tug a war, and balloon toss. The way to earn points is to win the events and have as many people from your greek chapter attend each event.
At the end of greek week, the chapter with the most points from all events wins greek week. On Sunday after the whole week is over there is an award ceremony for all chapters and trophies handed out for the winning teams. To win greek week is a big deal. It shows that you are the best and strongest chapter on campus.
Also at the award ceremony they announce who won homecoming week from the previous fall. Overall, this is a super fun week to be a apart of and support. Some of the best memories that you will never forget come from greek week. Events like this are a big reason to become apart of a greek chapter.
Pledging (Post 9)
Sororities and Fraternities are already on the prowl for recruiting. In fact, it's always recruiting season because recruiting never stops. Just by wearing your letters around campus, or putting a car decal on your car you're recruiting. When people that aren't in greek chapters see that, some become interested. That is why when you're wearing your "letters" you should always be putting forth the best representation of yourself.
Rush for women is in the fall, and men usually check out fraternities in the Spring before their freshman year of college. Sorority recruitment is very stressful and intimidating of both sides. Ladies that are in the sorority are nervous to interview girls who are rushing and girls rushing are always nervous to meet so many new girls. If girls are themselves, it is easier for everyone to find something in common. Rush usually lasts a week just because there are so many sorority houses to see.
Men who are looking to join a fraternity usually go to a couple fraternity parties so they can meet the men and see where they fit in. If they get asked back and liked that house as well they may get a big extended to them. Men can get as many bids from as many houses but in the end have to accept one bid and that is the fraternity house they will pledge too.
I hope this helps everyone understand a little bit more about how the process of getting into a sorority for fraternity works.

Darty (Post 8)
It's that time of year again.... DARTY season!! Darty stands for "Day Party." The weather is beautiful this time of year which gives fraternities and sororities another reason to party. Greek chapters live for these days. Things you may catch at a darty is free alcohol, music, mud pits, sand volleyball, and so much more. Fraternity are the main ones who will host these parties. Some parties can be themed and students really get into it. University of California is known for some of the best dartys. I personally think they have a huge advantage with their weather being mostly mild all year round. Other top darty schools include, Indiana University, Penn State, University of Mississippi, University of Texas, and many more. Due to dartys, Spring is one of the more fun times of the year for greek life.
